LINDEN COMANSA has manufactured nearly 16,000 cranes since 1963. the first LINDEN 8000 cranes, made by Linden-Alimak in Sweden in 1977 were probabely the first "Flat-Top" cranes used for construction. The terminology "Flat-Top" did not evolve until COMANSA adopted this description, now universally used in the early 'nineties'.

Plus NEW April 2012 standards for Operator Training
Linden Comansa, with other European manufacturers of tower cranes and CECE (Committee for European Construction Equipment), has developed a document to explain the new standard EN 14439, more demanding than before, and thus, much safer.
The 14439 is a "harmonized standard" already applicable, essential to accomplish the requirements of the European Union’s Machinery Directive. It applies to all tower and self-erecting cranes sold in the European Union and affiliated countries, and refers to two points:

Physical changes needed to meet requirements on driver comfort, safe access, acceptance of anti-collision systems, Etc. Out-of-service Wind Conditions:
The new standard requires the use of more demanding calculation methods than before, to take the wind into account in a more realistic way. Thus, the crane configuration has to be adapted in many cases to the higher out-of-service wind. Concerning the conditions of the wind in service, the standard doesn’t change.
The most important European crane manufacturers, including Linden Comansa, have decided to apply the EN 14439 standard on all cranes manufactured and sold from January 1st 2010.

COMANSA PRODUCTION METHODS:
Huge Transfer machines, CNC lathes and machining centres have replaced traditional machine tools in the LINDEN COMANSA workshops, to give higher productivity and precision in all machining processes.
Welders are duly qualified and LINDEN COMANSA welding systems and installations have been fully approved by the German "SLV" organisation, to the highest standards. Fully automatic "Robot" welding systems are currently being incorporated into the LINDEN COMANSA production lines.

After almost complete re-organisation of internal structures and procedures, in accordance with ISO9001, LINDEN COMANSA has already finalised all external audits, and has been granted ISO 9001 Approval with Registration No. ER-0808/1997. In recognition of the progress made in this field by LINDEN COMANSA, Dragados & Construcciones, the largest civil engineering and construction contractor in Spain, and one of the largest in Europe, recently awarded to LINDEN COMANSA their First Prize for Total Quality. SYSTEMS:
LINDEN COMANSA control systems are designed by the in-house research and development department and assembled in our own workshops, as practically all the mechanical components and the structure of the cranes. Safety cut-out and warning systems meet all European and American Standards. Switch-gear components used by LINDEN COMANSA include Télémécanique, ASEA, Siemens, Electromatic, etc. Slewing rings are supplied direct by Rothe-Erde.

With the elimination of the “traditional” cat-head and pendant lines the CJ series Flat-Tops have many important advantages, which have undoubtedly made this crane a most interesting alternative for a fast-growing number of users and rental companies:
- Fast, simple and safe erection of small, light individual modules.
- Components can be erected directly from truck to crane.
- Smaller mobile crane required for lifting light components at a lower height.
- No complicated pendant-lines to be erected.
- Excellent choice for narrow sites in the city as there is no need to pre-assemble the whole jib on the ground.
- Simple connection of jib sections with CJ Union system.
- Frequently only a CJ series Flat-Top crane will be the right solution, due to limitations of conventional cranes with the extra height of their cat-head.
- With the CJ series Flat-Top you get the maximum height under hook with minimum overall height of the crane.
- On congested sites, additional CJ series Flat-Top cranes can overlap each other adding only one mast section, thus keeping all cranes at lowest possible height, with correspondent costs saving in addition to minimization of mast sections, use of wall ties is often avoided.
- Strong design, without alternating stresses in the jib, virtually eliminates fatigue in this structure.
Two Comansa Jie cranes on the development of Chinese town Wenzhou Despite its almost 8 million inhabitants, the metropolitan area of Wenzhou (east of China) doesn’t appear on the top-20 list of most populated Chinese cities. Nevertheless, the city is living a huge process of urban development, based on the landmark project “Lucheng Plaza”, where two Comansa Jie Flat-Top tower cranes are doing a great job.
The project is leaded by “Greentown”, one of China’s most important property developers, and is the beginning of a great plan to modernize and improve the image of the city, as well as increase its commercial influence. This big complex, built in a site area of over 130.000 m2, will combine residential areas with offices, shopping and leisure center and a Gran Hyatt Hotel. Also, “Lucheng Plaza” will hold a 350-meter-high and 75-storey tower, which will be opened in 2012 as the highest building of the Zhejiang province.
The two 10CJ140 cranes are already at the jobsite, working in the construction of other two towers of the complex, with heights of 120 and 180 meters respectively, that will hold Class-A offices. This model of Flat-Top tower crane, with a maximum load of 8 tonnes, has a 60 meter jib length and can load up to 2.000 kilos at the jib end.
“Lucheng Plaza” will have more than 450.000 m2 of built space, and has been designed by north American firm SOM (Skidmore, Owings and Merrill), one of the world’s largest and most prestigious Architecture and Engineering studios. Some of the planet’s landmark buildings have been designed by SOM, like the world’s tallest skyscraper, the Burj Dubai.
